Tuesday - 31 days old

4 Weeks, 3 days old......

Liz Peters brought her grand daughters Mary Carol and Jax to play with the puppies.  They had a big time and so did the puppies.  They played with them and cuddled a bunch.  Jax had on a dress with ruffles at the bottom and the puppies thought they might like to pull it off her dress, so she put a t shirt over her dress!  The puppies are getting bigger and bolder.

The Visitors!

The Roesslers arrive

They wanted to come get some puppy love this weekend so they hopped on a plane and came down and jumping into that all important role of puppy cuddler, puppy player, puppy teacher and all around fun!

We had a great weekend and took the opportunity to give the puppies a new play space in the larger living room!  They now have two play spaces and soon will have a third....outside!  They were jumping at the baby gate to go out of the puppy room, but the hall was a bit scary for them.  We let them explore walking down the hallway and there were some fearful moments, so tears (crimson got stuck on the wrong side of the baby gate!) but all in all, they opened up and found their running strides!  Wow, they were amazing.  They had bounced a bit in the smaller puppy room, but in the bigger room, they opened up and ran all around.  We got out new toys and they took to them eagerly.  One was a noodle AFrame and that was an instant favorite.  They also saw their slide for the first time and it took a bit of getting used to but now it is one of their favorites.  I added a crate to let them warm up to it and no problem.  the door is off so it is come and go for now, but they jumped right in and some choose to take a nap there.  Wobble boards also appeared and they like to try their balance on them.  Legs a little wobbly, but they don't give up.  They soon found climbing into the toy box a challenge they loved.  So they would climb in and the climb out!

Steve and Darcy Roessler came down for the weekend to play with the puppies.  We had a big time and the puppies were having a great time with them.  We introduced them to the new play area in the living room with Darcy & Steve's help.  We laid in the floor a lot to play with them.  Lots of fun  We did have a couple of meals out, one for some Memphis BBQ but other than that, we never left my house!!!!!  They will be back in a few weeks to take one home.  Wonder which one will go to Minnesota!!!

This is Steve all covered up with Canon and Pink girl!  Canon and Cade loved Darcy and Steve and were so happy to get to see them.

Introducing: THE ADVENTURE BOX

On Saturday, The Adventure Box arrives!

I saw this on the website for AVIDOG.com, which is the website for Gayle Watkins breeding info and consultations.  She has a marvelous site with tons on great information from a team that has bred lots of performance goldens.  One thing they have is this idea for the Adventure Box, which is kinda like a giant mobile for babies!  You can string anything on it you want and the noisy-er the better!  I shopped at every dollar store and discount place for all kinds of stuff to string up on the Adventure Box.  I got the frame built last week and just this Saturday had the time to string up the stuff I had tucked away for the puppies.  Bargain Hunt, Target dollar aisle, Doller Stores, TJMax, all were contributors to the Adventure Box.  The puppies love it and I think they will find something new on it about everyday.  I may remove it a couple times a week to freshen it up a bit.  It is fun to watch their eyes light up when they are playing with it.

I will add some pictures of close ups of the stuff I strung up.  Some have asked about that.

Here are some videos of the puppies playing with it.

All Things New.....

Today was the first day the puppies got to eat gruel.  They did fine with it this morning, and this evening, they were much more interested.  Pink girl pretty much ate herself into a coma! She is going to have to grow longer legs to lift her belly off the ground!  Before I fed them, I weighed all of them.  Here is what they weigh in at:

White Girl - 4lbs, 5.3 oz
Crimson Boy - 4lbs, 6 oz (first time to weigh more than White)
Pink Girl - 4lbs, 8.6 oz
Yellow Boy - 4lbs, 12.7oz Wow!

Also today, I took the time to finish 3 sides of the Adventure Box.  I knew I was going to have to make more room in the puppy room or wait until they could play with it outside.  Another option is to make a smaller one for indoors.  I might do that if I get time (HA HA).  The puppies got a few opportunities to play with it and they were so bold and curious. They tugged on things and made things rattle.  Lots of great experiences with this I think.

Here are some videos of eating and playing in the adventure box.  Pluck, my all American wants to play with the puppies and the toys and to help them eat the gruel that she can't control herself.  It makes for a long day when she barks at us all day long and whimpers to come in.  On another note, Canon is having a hard time nursing right now.  With the puppies having teeth and her being so full, her nipples are so tender that she does not enjoy nursing.  I have to make sure she stays with it.  Then again go back to the puppies weights and not one is missing anything.  It won't be long before they are weaned!

H A P P Y * 3 * Week Birthday to the Puppies!

Walking - Running - Climbing - Howling - Playing - Tugging!

They are up and doing it all at this point.  They are learning to go potty on the pee pee pad and do a great job of it.  I would say at least 1 out of 3 times each puppy goes potty, it is on the pad!!!  We will continue to work on this.  Did I mention they have teeth now!  Yes, all the way thru the gums, little sharp teeth that will prove to be a driving factor in Canon pushing them to move to solid food.  They will get their first run at it tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

Short fun video: Where oh where could that puppy be?

On the 3 Week Birthday, Kim Bosworth came and helped with a photo shoot again.  The pictures turned out marvelous!  Below are some of the pictures from their birthday photo shoot.

The Group

The group photo was taken after each puppy had done their individual photo session.  So it was hard to keep them awake and the little yellow man just could not hang in there.  He conked out right away and the others hung on but finally the soft white fluffy rug they were on was too much.  Zzzzzz.  The are getting bigger and older, but they are still very much babies.
