Day 6
Well, today is Thursday and one week ago, we were waiting on the puppies to be born. Whew, so glad that is over and now we have our beautiful puppies. They are growing by leaps and bounds. Notable things that happened today, they are beginning to try and lift up their bellies when they walk, so what happens is "barrel roll". I am trying to help them balance by letting them rest their chin in my hand. When they will use my hand for balance, they are up and walking. Won't be long!
EYES are beginning to get little pin holes in them. I expect they will have their eyes open this weekend.
They seem to love the really soft baby blankets I got them at target. I got one for each basket for any travels to the vet. I think I am going to run to target and see if they have a couple more I like so it can be a take home blanket. They are really soft and pretty. I may shop online!
Did I mention they are great eaters! They are growing so much. Here is where we are with weight as of this afternoon:
White girl:
Current Weight: 1lb. 11.8oz
Birth Weight: 13oz.
Total gain: 14.8oz
Crimson Boy:
Current Weight: 1lb 9.5oz
Birth Weight: 12.5oz.
Total gain: 13oz.
Pink Girl:
Current Weight: 1lb. 14.8oz
Birth Weight: 15.1oz
Total gain: 15.7oz
Yellow Boy:
Current Weight: 1lb. 14.3oz
Birth Weight: 14.5oz.
Total gain: 15.8
One of the favorite toys in the whelping box is the pink and white neck pillow! They love to crawl through the hole and rest on it. It is really soft. I did not really intend for it to be in the whelping box, but glad it made it's way in there.
One of Canon's funniest personality traits is that she is the keeper of all the toys around the house. So with that said, you may see her taking a toy out of the whelping box. If you look and they are all gone, they are most likely piled up on the bed beside the whelping box with Canon sitting on top of them. She is so silly and I think maybe some of the puppies will pick up some of that. It sure is fun!
Crimson boy snuggling with Momma! He is quite the snuggler.
Ok, this is the view I get from the porch. Can you see Cade's head peeking around the AFrame? Also notice the future puppy play yard. I put turf down there for them because I can't grow grass there!
He is quite the hider!
This is the first time I have seen any of the puppies doing this pose. It is one of my favorites to see them snoozing with their head pointing up! So cute.
